If I Were...

If I were a flower, I would be a fiery blue hydrangea.

If I were a song, I would be Fields of Gold by Sting.

If I were a movie, I would be a cross between Shadowlands and Shrek.

If I were a place, I would be a windmill near a running stream in a remote Dutch village.

If I were a book, I would be The Ragamuffin Gospel or Blue Like Jazz.

If I were a holiday, I would be Easter or July Fourth.

If I were a time of day, I would be 7:48am.

If I were a drink, I would be a chocolate milkshake.

If I were a food, I would be fresh baked bread.

If I were a gadget, I would be house keys.

If I were a piece of clothing, I would be a flowing skirt.

If I were a pair of shoes, I would be sandals.

I'd love to know some of your answers!

Thanks to Kristen at Dancing in the Margins for this wonderful blog idea!

Swing on by here later today to see what I wrote!

  2. Wendy! I was going to blog about hydrangeas today!

Mine are just "blueing" and They remind me of my wedding. Thanks!

  3. If I were a cookie, I'd be a Sour Lemon Square.

  4. I wish hydrangeas grew here...our soil is not acidic enough, but I do love them and miss them from my youth.

    If I were a flower, I'd be a tulip
    If I were a food, I'd be a chimichanga
    If I were a drink, I'd be a diet coke (I think I'm about 90 % that anyway)
If I were a holiday, I'd be Thanksgiving (I hope)

  5. What a great post! Hydrangeas are some of my favs. Will have to look up those books pronto.

  6. Wendy, you always have such great posts--ones that make me think and smile and imagine. If I were a flower, I'd be jasmine. I'd definitely be sandals, too. And I LOVE Fields of Gold by Sting!

  7. I'm beginning to think we were twins separated at birth. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower, and Ragamuffin Gospel is one of my favorite books. I wear sandals all the time (even in WINTER!) - and ohhh to be fresh baked bread (although I'd have to be a stick of butter too). I think the holiday I would be is Christmas, since my b-day is Dec. 24th :) Great post!

  8. This is such a cool post, Wendy.

    Flower? Definitely a Daisy.
Place? A hidden stream trickling through a dense forest.
Drink? A fizzing can of Coke! Easy!

  10. Love getting to know more about you! Now what I really want to know is the reasoning behind each thing you picked!

  11. If I were a flower, I'd be a bright orange day lily; movie: Sense and Sensibility; clothing: sun dress (orange, of course!); appliance: coffee maker; ice cream flavor: raspberry chocolate chunky doodle with nuts!
    What a fun post!

  12. Well that was fun! I have to admit, I started dissecting each one, trying to figure out what these things reveal about you. Very cool post today!

  13. What a neato meme! I'll have to think on some of these. Beautiful images, by the way!

  14. If I were a beverage, I'd be an iced coffee. Love that new invention!

  15. MeganRebekah, I liked that one too.

Suzanne, we had them at our wedding. They are good for weddings.

Luisa, love how you just threw that one in there.

Tess, we went out for a Mexican dinner last night...cool on the chimichanga!

Angie, both of those books really impacted my faith.

Cindy, we have much in common, I see. As I wrote over on Jill's blog today...I am a smeller and jasmine smells so good.

Beth, I wondered the same when I first read your post...that's why I became a quick follower. :D

Jill, I know I don't know you too well, but from what I am learning, I can see all of your answers being perfect fits.

Jessica, thank you for your compliment.

Jody, your comment sparked my idea for tomorrow's blog...so stay tuned! Thanks for that, BTW.

Jeanette, by your responses alone I'm thinking, "Now she's someone I'd like to hang out with!"

Katie, no dissection needed--I'll reveal more tomorrow.

Hi Shaye, it's been awhile. I am such a visual person. I had fun selecting these photos on flickr.

Eileen, iced coffee--my favorite this time of year!

Had a weird day today. Perhaps the weeks of rain are messing with me. Looking forward to a new day tomorrow!

Sleep and dream of all God has yet to do in you and the world!

  18. Thank you for the comment on my blog!

I would love to one day be a photographer but for now I'll stick with the amateur family picture taker! =)

Love the idea for this post! Might have to use it on mine! I love hydrangea's and the Fourth of July too!

  19. I love this list!

If I were a flower, I'd be a deep orange rose. Which is very odd considering I don't particularly care for the color orange.

I'd be a flowing skirt too, or maybe a masquerade mask. :D

  20. What a good idea this is... more "getting to know you" opportunities. The fresh bread image caught me. It's such a homey image. Our breadmaker died last fall and I haven't made any since. I might just have to go back to the "from scratch" method for a loaf.

    Flower? A snowy white iris
Place? A big rock overlooking the ocean waves
    Clothing? A fuzzy warm sweater

I'll have to think a bit on the others. :)

  21. Cool post!

    Hmmm ... let's see:

    I'd be a lilac
    comfy pajamas (no bra)
    The Cat in the Hat

    :-)

  22. Kristen, thanks! I think so too!

Amy, sweet blessings to you as well. Thank you for the way your blog blesses!

Aimee, there was a black and white action shot with a whipping ponytail...you have a gift I certainly don't. :D

Danyelle, a masquerade mask...hmmm. I'm thinking and thinking on that one. :D

Careann, I loved your answers, the snowy white iris, where the rock would be and that it would be big, and I'm all about fuzzy warm sweaters.

Jennifer, thank you. Lilac--very fragrant. Loved the no bra! :DDDD and so curious about the book.

  23. Sorry to be so late, Wendy. I scanned my reader yesterday and marked this one "keep unread" so I could be sure to read your every answer at least two times. My favorite is "fresh baked bread" because of your follow-up to it.

Movie? Fiddler on the Roof all that dancing, all that sorrow
Pair of shoes? Barefoot, even in snow once in a while, just to feel gloriously alive
Song? "Come Thou Fount" oh to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be / let Thy goodness like a fetter bind my wandering heart to Thee / prone to wander, Lord! I feel it, prone to leave the One I love / here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above
