One Question Friday

Every Friday I’m going to ask a question. The questions I choose might be ambiguous on purpose. The goal is to have you answer the question according to your beliefs, where you’re at in life or a circumstance that might have recently impacted you. The only thing I ask is that you provide an explanation for why you answered the way you did.

It is my hope to understand you better through this and also to gain a greater understanding of humanity and how people make decisions.

Here it comes:

Just starting out or
Reaching the destination?

  1. Always just starting out. Feeling very far from my destination these days!

  2. Well, we are just starting out right now... in a lot of things! We're just starting out in seminary ... we're just starting out in youth ministry... and we're just starting out in our adoption process. BUT I can't wait to finally reach the desination!!! That's my favorite part!!

  3. Just starting out. There's something about looking forward to the destination that is more exciting than actually getting there.

  4. always just starting out i guess...as soon as I think I've reached a destination that i had set in my own mind, God gently, lovingly opens up another fork in the road, an unexpected turn, or another huge stretch of flat road just beyond the hill I've just climbed. This is how I've come to think of my life:
This resurrection life you've received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It's adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike,"what's next, papa?"
    Romans 8:15 (Msg.)

  5. Is the picture a lead in to the question? I would say starting out. If I was ending the trip I would take a picture through the rear window of where I'd been. (And maybe that is how this pic was taken?). In life, when one phase ends we transition right into a new one. Last child leaves home - new phase starts for mom and dad. Finished writing a book - another one awaits (As I am finding out :). Good question.

  6. Wow, I think I could answer both to this one. We are just starting out. We are moving! And, we are reaching for our destination. Haven't found one yet, but I am sure God will come through!

  7. Just starting out. Enjoying the long stretch of earth before me. The mystery of the road sends tingles down my spine. I love not knowing.

  8. I so enjoy the excitement and promise of adventure that begins a journey. Preparing for a trip, pulling out of the driveway and rolling onto the highway toward a brand new destination always fills me with that giggly, goofy anticipation, like a kid on Christmas morning.

  9. Just starting out, but with God in the blink of an eye, destination completion! :O)

  10. Reaching the destination...reason...God has been refining me and my faith...preparing me to stand before Him. I grew up a "Christian," but never had a personal relationship with the Lord. Once I TRULY surrendered...God began to work. So, I'm still on the journey...but well on my way to the destination...God has assured me in my spirit of that. There is no greater feeling than to know that I am ready to stand before God in judgment...Christ has saved me. It is no longer I that lives...but He now lives in me. (Galatians 2:20)And now...He has given me the mission of reaching out to others and bringing them along on this journey of faith...until we see Him face to face.
    Blessings to you sister!
    With joy,
    Cherie

  11. Reaching the destination. I would have wrote that in all caps if I didn't think it'd be rude and a bit alarming. Get me there please.

  12. I bet you can guess my answer! As always I'm on the fence! I would have to answer both! I'm reaching the destination of my lifelong dream of publication, but in many ways it's just the beginning of a whole new road to travel!

Have a great weekend, Wendy! Been thinking about you lately and wondering how you're doing!

  13. I want to get there. Reaching the destination--all the way!! Have a great weekend!

  14. Hm, not just starting out. More like on the wonderful writing journey, moving along different avenues, but not at the destination yet. Still navigating with that GPS ;)

  15. somewhere in between?? is that an option? i'd be uber depressed to say just starting out since i'm almost 8 years into this journey, but clearly i'm not there yet. so, in publication, it's on the road.

but, in life? hmmm...some days i mess up and feel as if i'm just starting out. lots of days, in fact.

  16. I'm never quite sure which is which. :-)

  17. Both...my reason?
I believe that in the "starting out" we simultaneously "reach the destination" for it ("the destination") is IN the "starting out"...our God is so ready and willing to embrace us that as soon as we REACH...as soon as we START...HE IS COMPLETELY AND FULLY THERE TO WELCOME US! Thankfully, He lets me "start out anew" each day...thus giving me the JOY and BLESSING of reaching the destination each and every time!
Great blog! Great question! Nice to meet you!

  18. Just starting out. :-) I'm not sure there's ever a real destination...just markers on the journey.

  19. Just starting out. It's the moment of anticipitation, the thrill of the unknown, the hopes for a wondeful journey. Have a great weekend.

  20. Seriously, Wendy, you've got allow a middle for this question. Cause that's where I am. Six years into this, I better not be just starting out, but I don't see a publishing contract coming my way anytime soon, either, so MIDDLE. That's my final answer, even if you didn't give it as an option!!! Sorry, every now and then I need to be a rebel.

  21. I SHOULD say just starting out because it seems to fit me better these days, but I'm working really hard at being a reaching the destination kind of person. Particularly enjoy where God has taken me and not rushing to be starting out somewhere else or on something else again.

  22. Both, at the same time. I'm always finishing one thing but starting another. That's how I know I'm still alive!

  23. Reaching the destination. I was happier once I got to see my kids and grandkids, than when we had just started the drive. But for other things, like "starting" to eat a great chocolate bar is much better than having just finished the bar. teehee...

  24. Just starting out! In motherhood and writing! But in both, I don't think there's ever a point where we "reach" the destination.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Both! I feel like I'm just starting out because I don't have an agent yet and my career hasn't officially started. I feel like I'm almost at my destination because I believe in myself, and I'm getting closer each day.

  26. I'm just starting out with possibilities in my writing, but somehow I feel that I'm on the path to reaching my destination. It's just something in the air! Have a great one Wendy!

  27. Moving closer to the destination. Daughter raised and off to college? Check. Manuscript polished and receiving attention from professionals? Check. Learning to enjoy the journey? Double check.

  28. Wendy, I left you a little something on my blog, today, Sunday, make sure to stop by!

  29. Since I'm a bit journey weary, I'll say reaching my destination, Wendy. Especially if we're talking kneeling at Jesus' feet.

P.S. You won a prize on my blog! Please pop over tomorrow to pick it out.

  30. Of course I'm just starting out!
Life is a journey whether it is long or short. And sometimes it is a wild ride with bumps, and sometimes hills to climb and sometimes dark stretches of highway. But, I'm holding on tight to Jesus!
